Anything else you could cover that I haven't thought of would be much appreciated! If these two programs are more-or-less the same at heart, then I would love to save the hundreds of dollars and go with reaper. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the key differences between the two programs. Still, I use ableton's delays, reverb, compressor (for sidechaining), vinyl distortion, overdrive, and a few others. I'm going to guess that Cubase has a nice suite of plugins, whereas reaper will most likely be pretty bare-bones.įortunately, I have a handful of decent plugins and a liquid mix to cover my basic synth, EQ, and compressor needs. So what I know is that they are similar, reaper is updated a lot more frequently, reaper is A LOT cheaper, and that's about it. I don't know much about cubase other than what I've read on the forums, but it's hard to read a thread without seeing reaper pop up too. People complain about a certain layout feature that they never even have to One click and the panel is gone forever, unless youĬlick it again. You can show and/or hide most everything. It's the same all through the main interface, which is why it's so great, if you understand it. Others who do like them, like me, use them. Them, you can close them and forget they're there.

People who don't like the panels never have to open The Cubase/Nuendo interface is "options". I think the Cubase layout is elegant and that some people just don't get it. Combine that look with the layout and functionality of Reaper and I'm a happy camper! I've used Cubase LE quite a bit and always enjoyed the basic look but hated the bizarre "panels" and funky layout.
